Yes...It's True....

I am happy to announce that after 6 months of trying, the Hubster and I finally did it! We are now almost 9 weeks along with our little demon child (I swear it looks like a demon in the ultrasound pic!! Or a T-Rex....) It was definitely a shock to us to have it happen when it did, because I thought for sure we were out the month we conceived. I was 2000 miles away at my brother's wedding (congrats guys!!) during most of my fertile period and we really only got 1 good BD in. But it's what they say, it only takes one....LOL! I'm convinced it was the rollercoaster that did it though. Fast forward to the end of the TWW. It's October 30th, I take a test, BFN as expected, so we decide to go have some fun, ride some rides, rollercoasters, visit a few haunted houses, etc. Had a blast I must say (even though the Hubster was a chicken shit and would only go on 1 rollercoaster with me...BOOO!!!) The next (Halloween for all that are keeping up), I decide to punish myself again by taking yet another test. But, wait! What's this? Could it be? A LINE?!?!?!?! Holy $@!#!!! I ran downstairs to the Hubster to ask his opinion. He wasn't sure, but he thought he saw it too. At this point I'm freaking out cause the line is so light and I used one of those damned Dollar Tree (love you!) tests. So I wasn't sure if it was a false positive or not. I decide I'm going to take a picture and post it online for my "Preggo Friends" to decipher. I put the test down on the floor of the landing on the stairs cause that's where the best light is. Zorro the wonder kitty decides he wants to help. As I am focusing up the camera he shows up out of nowhere, pounces on the test and sends it flying across the room. Score one for the kitty!! I finally got the picture taken and all the online girls confirmed that they see the line too. Whew! I'm not crazy! (Well, that's up for debate, but moving on...) I decided to go ahead and exhaust my supply of Dollar Tree tests, just cause I really liked seeing that line. Unfortunately all of those tests, while still coming up postive, just looked a bit weird. So I decided I was going to bite the bullet and buy one of those fancy schmancy digital tests. I brought that bad boy home, peed on it, waited, and.....YES!!! It said Pregnant. Now it seemed real. I went and had my first appointment at 6 weeks to do all the blood draws, STD tests, and actually confirm the pregancy and then at 8 weeks we had our first ultrasound. Our little Demon is measuring right on track with a very strong heartbeat and we couldn't be any happier about it.

As far as the pregnancy is going for me. Well, I just wish the nausea would go away. So far (knock on wood) I have only thrown up once (knock on wood again for good measure). I have definitely come close several times in the past few days though. And I swear the bathroom at work is out to get me! It constantly smells like someone took a huge shit in it!! I finally came to my senses though and started bringing febreeze into the room with me whenever I have to go (which is like every 2 minutes! Seriously?) Eating has become a challenge also. Nothing ever sounds good, but if I don't eat something, then I get really nauseous. It's a lose lose situation. According to the Dr though, I only will have to deal with this for about 1 1/2 more weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she knows what she's talking about.

Getting Frustrated....

I know...it's only been 4 months. I know....on average it takes 6 months to a year to conceive. I know.....but I'm still frustrated. It's been compounded by the fact that a woman I work with announced she was PG a few weeks ago. They weren't trying which is a bigger slap in the face. I'm trying to be happy for her, but it hasn't been easy. It seems like all I hear out of her mouth is baby, baby, baby. Yeah...great...you're excited...I get that...have some consideration for the person in the office who is trying to have a baby and hasn't had any luck yet....k.thanks.bye. I'm also struglgling with the fact that if I get PG this cycle, work will be put in a lurch because it's possible that our maternity leave will overlap. My manager actually told me I should space it out. I told her it was a little late for that, cause we were already past the point of no return by that time. I talked that over with my Hubs and some friends and they all agreed that it's not my fault or problem that she got PG first. We had already been trying for 3/4 months and we shouldn't put our life on hold because of her bad timing. I still have some hope that we got it this month, but it's small hope. We didn't get much BD in due to the Hubster's schedule (he works overnights and I work days). I had a really vivid dream the other night that I took a HPT and got the ever elusive BFP. I woke that morning feeling really good about it....peed on a stick.....negativo! I also had a really strange episode where I was on the phone with a client and I got an overwhelming urge for potato salad. Like, I could actually taste it in my mouth, I wanted it that bad. Not sure if that is a sign or not, or if I'm just really weird....probably the latter. I've had some weird cramping this month, but it could be pre-AF cramping....who knows. I'm planning on taking another test tomorrow if the Flo doesn't decide to make an appearance. ***sigh***

In other news....the mountains outside of Boulder have been subjected to an insane wildfire. My in-laws unfortunately have been affected and are currently in limbo wondering whether or not their home is still there. Last we knew it was unaffected, but the way the winds have been, that could change quickly. So all thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated for them.

Until next time.....

Goin to the Chapel.....

.....and I'm gonna get maaaaaarrrriiieeeeddddd!!! Yes, it is official that Pete and I are engaged!! We have been talking about it quite a bit and he asked me a few weeks ago. It's a cute story really. He woke me up out of a sound sleep to ask me and then the next morning I had to ask him if I was just dreaming or if he really asked me to marry him....definitely one to put in the story books. I went out ring shopping and have picked out the most beautiful ring ever! I can't wait until he actually gives it to me (which hopefully will be soon)

Since we had been talking about getting married we already had most of our plans for the wedding hashed out. For those of you who don't know here are the details. We have picked a date of 7-3-2010, pending site availability. We will be getting married in NY in the Thousand Islands (www.singercastle.com) again pending availability. We will be doing a 1940's themed wedding. I found a pattern online for a wedding dress from the '40's and I have already met with a dressmaker to have this dress recreated and custom fit for me. I am so excited about it!! I would post a picture of it, but I don't want Pete to see it until I walk down that aisle. I also have tentative bridesmaid dresses picked out (again, they will probably have to be made, just working out pricing issues now).

We told his family about the engagement over the weekend and it seems like they couldn't be happier. I called my family yesterday and spilled the news and they are overjoyed. My dad actually said that "Pete is the first guy you have brought home that I haven't wanted to kill" So I take that as a good sign :-)

So anyway, I will be updating with more details as time goes on.

The Top Reason Why My Dog is Awesome

For those of you who know my dog Inigo Montoya, you know that she is a strange creature indeed. Inigo, I swear, is a male trapped in a female's body. I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I saw her LIFT her LEG to take a pee on a tree!! What's worse is nobody believed me that she did it until they saw for their very own eyes. Yes, my dog is strange, but I guess it's fitting considering who her owner is. Hehehe. Anyway, on to the Top Reason Why My Dog is Awesome. Last night, Pete and I were taking a leisurely walk with Inigo around the apartment complex. She proceeded to lift her leg on not one, but TWO of the signs belonging to our community, thus complimenting our exact feelings about the community in which we live. Man I love that dog.

Getting Closer

Less than a week to go until I get my new place. I am so excited to finally have a place to call my own. Pete and I have been talking about the possibility of him moving in with me when I do get it, but I don't know if that is going to happen or not. While we both want to do it, he had arranged to move in with someone else in June since his current room mate is getting married and he needs to be out of there soon. So he is having issues with whether he can tell the guy he won't move in there. I can understand that, since they had arranged it, but no paperwork or lease has been signed yet, so it's not like he is bound to anything. He's is just such a stand-up guy, he doesn't want to screw the guy, and I can totally understand that. But it's like he said, he will more than likely be spending more time at my place than the place he is actually paying rent for. I would hate for him to have to be paying money at a place he is basically just using to store his stuff at, ya know? So I guess we will just see what happens. It would be so much better financially for both of us if we just did it. Plus he would be stuck in a 1 year lease, so that makes no sense to me, to do that if he wants to live with me anyway...ya know? I guess we will just see what happens. I told him to think about it, so we shall see what he decides on.

I decided to move up the day that I am going back to Montrose to get my stuff out of storage. In the long-run, I am actually saving money by doing it this way. I ended up getting my moving truck for $20 less and I won't end up having to pay anything this month for my storage space. They are just going to pro-rate the number of days I have it for the month of May, and just take it out of my deposit. Things are definitely working out in my favor as far as that goes. Plus, I won't have to spend as much time in my new place with no dishes, furniture, etc. All-in-all it's a win-win situation.

Under Pressure....

The time is clicking by quickly. Less than two weeks and I am moving. The stress has been piling up on me though. I have yet to find a job in Denver and I am getting really worried that I am going to be jobless forever! I must have sent my resume to about 50 or more companies and I got 3 interviews.....3!!!!!! I'm thinking that I am going to have to just go and be a retail bitch for just a little while longer. I'm hoping that I have an opportunity at another store out there. I'm just waiting for the manager to call me back. Here's the crap part about it though, the job he wants me for is commission. I really don't want to do commission. I can't afford to be on commission. I'm gonna try to talk him into a nice office position that I know he has open :-)

The packing of my house has been going very slowly. I have most of my furniture in storage though, so that is good. I just haven't had the time or the energy to sit down and pack up the little things. Plus I haven't had a day off in like 3 weeks, so that is making it tough to get things done also. On top of that, my animals have been lovely to me as well. I think they are upset about the move, cause the dog keeps shitting on the carpet upstairs and the cats keep puking on the carpet downstairs. Hi, assholes, I'd like to get some of my security deposit back. Thanks.

Since my main job has gone to part-time, I have really been hurting on the money front. I literally don't have enough money to even get out of this damn town. I ended up having to call my dad to ask him for money so I can get my bills paid and get the hell outta here!

I'm going to be making a trip to NY also to see my friends and family. I've only been home once in the past two years and that time it was for a funeral, so it will be nice to see everyone in a happier light. I'm bringing Pete with me, so he gets to meet all of my family. I don't think he is too excited about it though....hahaha! I told him he didn't have to go, but he insisted because he didn't want me to drive all that way alone. Isn't he sweet? The reason for the big trip is that I need to bring the poop-machine and the puke mobiles to my dad. They can't go to my friend's house who I am going to be staying with and I have no one else here that can take them for a month. So now they get to go live with my dad. Truthfully, I think they will be happier there. I know the dog will be anyway. She hasn't seen my dad in 2 years, but to this day still gets all excited when you say his name. It's pretty cute actually.

So, other than stressing about no job and no money, things are going well. Even though things look bleak right now, I am looking forward to moving on with my life and getting the HELL outta here!!!

Holiday Fun

Christmas is over and all I can say is "AMEN"!!! I had a pretty good Christmas overall. I just stayed home with a bottle of wine on Christmas Eve. Talked to most of my friends and family. One thing happened, however, that didn't upset me at first, but now the more I think about it, the more hurt I feel by it. My Dad called me. I asked him how everyone was doing and how my Grandma was handling the first Christmas without my Grandpa. He said she did ok, but that he was having a hard time feeling sorry for her. I asked him why and he said he didn't want to go into it becauase he didn't want to hurt my feelings. I finally got him to tell me what was up. He asked me if I had gotten anything from my Grandma for Christmas, even a card. I said no, but that I hadn't checked my mail yet that day. So I went out and got the mail. There was a card, but that was it. Apparantly she went and got gifts for everyone in the family, except me. I'm not really sure what is going with that. My brothers and I have never been the favorite grandchildren to her by any means, but at least the two of them got gifts!! My cousins were always the favorites and we were always "subtly" let known that fact. Even back when my grandfather passed. I went through Hell trying to get a plane ticket out of my small town in order to make it home for the funeral. I had to take time off from both of my jobs, etc. All I heard was how great it was that Lauren (my cousin) was able to make it, and oh she was so worried that she wouldn't be able to get there. My cousin Lauren doesn't work, has a housekeeper, etc. Oh yeah, it was real hard for her to get away. I hate to sound bitter about it, but it seems like whatever we did in our family was never good enough for her. Lauren snagged herself a rich husband, Scott is a Doctor, and Beth has a good job and is married. I, however, am a slut because one time I asked to have my boyfriend come visit me while I was staying at their camp. Yup, the slut....the one who didn't lose her virginity till she was 21......big slut here. But that's my Grandma. OK, enough about that one, I'm starting to get angry over here.

So, Christmas Day, I opened the presents from my Mom. She got me a really nice ring, 2 necklaces and a Bulova watch which I love. I also got this really cool I Love Lucy wallet (one of my favorite shows) and a I Love Lucy fleece blanket, a new coat, and some new pj's. I went over to my friend Melissa's for dinner and that was really good. It was nice to get out of the house and spend some time with people.

All in all, it was a good holiday. No word from Todd, but I don't really expect to hear from him either.

I hope that all of you had wonderful holidays, no matter what you celebrated!
