Flight of the Chipmunk
Ok, so it has been a few days since I have been able to write. I must say that I had quite the exciting start to my Labor Day weekend.....(although there wasn't much to the rest of it) So I get out of work at 1:00 on Friday. I go and get myself some lunch and bring it home planning to relax and actually get some sleep for once before I have to go into the hotel to work that night. Now usually, when I go to work during the day I will leave my dog outside with the screen door open so that she can come in and get some shade if she wants to. So I sit down and start to eat my lunch. Inigo is whining and pulling on her chain. I ignore her for the first bit, because I wanted to eat in peace for once. So I finish eating and I let her off the chain. She makes a bee line for the couch. She starts sniffing all agressively at it and trying to get underneath it. For those who have never seen my furniture, I think there is about an inch and a half clearance from the floor. So, anyway, I ignored her again, but she finally started to get annoying so I got up to see what she was doing. After a bit of furniture moving and peering underneath I discovered that I had a chipmunk under my couch!! So I put the dog back outside and started the task of getting the thing out of my house. After about an hour and a half the munk had successfully hidden itself again and I couldn't find it. So, I decided that I was going to go to bed. I grabbed the dog and locked her in my bedroom, opened up the back door in the hopes that the munk would take a hint and get out! I did, however, neglect to put the cats somewhere. With the doors open they had run outside, and rounding them up would have taken longer than finding the munk. So I went to bed and tried to sleep through the whining of my dog. Around 6pm I couldn't take it anymore, she was scratching at the door and doing her ridiculously annoying high pitched whine that I swear would break glass! So I decided to let her outside for a bit, for my sanity and her safety. I opened the door to my bedroom to find not the munk, but the tail to the munk about 2 feet away from the open back door. It seems that while on it's way out, one of my cats decided to grab a keepsake. So Inigo promptly picks the tail up in her mouth to which I promptly yell "DROP IT!!" She begrudgingly did. I picked it up with about 50 napkins in hand and deposited the tail outside. So if anyone sees a tailless munk wandering around tell him I said hi!
